Top South East Leaders Denounce Amaechi’s Call to Violence, Back President Tinubu

By Sani Tuku

The Apex Igbo Sociocultural Organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has responded to the alarming and incendiary remarks made by Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the former Governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transport, against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement issued by the Deputy President General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Ohanaeze condemned Amaechi’s call for Nigerians to resort to “brutal force” to snatch power from President Tinubu, stating that it contravenes the principles of civility, democracy, and peace.

Ohanaeze also denounced Amaechi’s assertion that politicians must be willing to “steal, maim, and kill” to retain power, saying it diminishes the dignity of political discourse and poses a threat to society.

The organisation expressed concern that Amaechi’s rhetoric could incite unrest and mobilize youth toward violent actions, plunging the nation into chaos.

Ohanaeze distanced itself from Amaechi’s statements, emphasizing that the Igbo people will never endorse any political conspiracy aimed at undermining the legitimacy of an elected President.

The organisation lent its support to the position articulated by the Minister of State for Defence, H.E. Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawelle, calling for Amaechi to retract his statements and cease from further inciting the populace.

Ohanaeze also announced its intent to mobilize and galvanize the Igbo population residing in the nineteen Northern States to stand firmly alongside Dr. Bello Matawelle and ensure President Tinubu’s victory in the forthcoming elections.

The organisation called for robust measures to monitor and thwart any attempts to incite disorder and emphasized that those found guilty of treasonous actions must face severe penalties, irrespective of their political connections or influence.

Ohanaeze reiterated its unwavering allegiance to President Tinubu, stating that there shall be no support from the Igbo for any coalition of opposition leaders plotting against the sitting President.

“Our resolve is steadfast, as we remain committed to fostering peace, stability, and fruitful governance in Nigeria,” the statement added. “Let it be said that the aspirations of the Igbo people align with a future predicated upon legitimate leadership, respect for democratic processes, and a shared vision for a prosperous Nigeria.”

His strategies to combat insecurity, empower communities, and prioritize development have set a new standard for governance.”

The governor’s administration has been widely praised for its comprehensive peace-building initiatives, which involved partnerships with security forces, traditional leaders, and grassroots organizations. These efforts have not only curbed violence but also reintegrated conflict-affected areas into the state’s growth trajectory.

Fajoye highlighted strides in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, noting that over 20 new vocational centers and 15 upgraded hospitals have been inaugurated since 2023. Additionally, the governor’s agricultural reforms have boosted local food production and created thousands of jobs for youths. “From road networks to tech hubs, Delta is becoming a beacon of opportunity,” Fajoye remarked.

The youth leader also underscored the symbolic significance of the award, emphasizing that it celebrates both the governor’s achievements and the resilience of Delta’s citizens. “This honor belongs to every farmer, teacher, and young innovator contributing to our collective progress,” he added.

Governor Oborevwori’s “MORE Agenda,” focusing on Meaningful Development, Opportunity for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace, has driven his administration’s success. Analysts attribute Delta’s 18% drop in unemployment since 2023 to these policies.

Fajoye concluded with a call for sustained unity: “Let this award inspire us to redouble our efforts in building a Delta where no one is left behind.”

The recognition solidifies Governor Oborevwori’s position as a pivotal figure in Nigeria’s political landscape, with observers tipping Delta as a blueprint for subnational governance.

When in power,he practiced tyranny, when out of power he is preaching democracy;Shehu Sani slams Elrufai.

The former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial zone , Senator Shehu Sani took a swipe at former Kaduna Governor,Mal Nasir Elrufai over his recent political comments of ,” Illiterates In Leadership Position”.

According to Shehu Sani, Elrufai in power practiced tyranny, but out of power he preaches democracy.

Former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, had accused his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), of abandoning its founding principles and fostering poor leadership, saying “You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders. This is why we end up with the poor leadership we have today,”

But in a reaction to Elrufai’s comments, Senator Shehu Sani via a telephone interview said ,”The man with a history of undisguised intolerance to opposition and hypersensitive allergy to criticisms have no moral and saintly feet to stand on the pulpit of democracy to preach about good governance.

While stating that Elrufai is like a man who is turned down by a woman and resorted to speaking ill of her, he posited that ,”If Nasiru is in a Keke napep, he will call it a Lamborghini; if he is thrown out of the Lamborghini,he will call it a Keke Napep.

He demonised the opposition when in the palace and now embracing them when in the wilderness.

According to him , today Tinubu’s Government is led by illiterates, because they refused to hire Professor Nasiru, who left behind a heap of garbage in kaduna and now preaching hygiene in Nigeria

Arewa Group Disowns Bala Mohammed Over Criticism of Tinubu’s Economic Reforms

Habu Ciki

… Accuses El-Rufai and Third Force Advocates of Undermining Northern Unity

The Arewa Youth Leaders and Professionals Forum (AYLPF) has distanced itself from Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed over his criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, labeling his actions as detrimental to the unity and progress of northern Nigeria.

Speaking during a press conference on Monday, the AYLPF National President, Abdulahi Bilal Mohammed, accused Governor Bala Mohammed of pursuing a self-serving agenda, characterizing his opposition to the reforms as a desperate attempt to protect corrupt practices that have benefited him and his associates.

“Governor Bala Mohammed’s stance is not driven by genuine concern for Nigeria’s development but reflects his disdain for national unity and the trust placed in him by the people of Bauchi State and the country at large,” Bilal Mohammed stated.

The AYLPF also took aim at former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, describing him as politically irrelevant and disconnected from the aspirations of Nigerians.

“El-Rufai’s recent clandestine moved demonstrate his detachment from the realities and priorities of the Nigerian people,” said Bilal Mohammed, adding that his alleged alliance with promoters of a third force represents an effort to undermine the interests of northern Nigeria.

The group accused El-Rufai and other third force advocates of pursuing divisive and selfish agendas aimed at exploiting the region for personal gain.

The Arewa group called on patriotic Nigerians to reject divisive leaders and rally behind President Tinubu’s administration, which it described as committed to the progress and development of the country.

“The voices of division and selfishness must be silenced. We urge all Nigerians to support the economic reforms of President Tinubu’s administration, which are aimed at ensuring national growth and prosperity,” the group concluded.

The statement partly reads: “Firstly, Let us begin with Governor Bala Mohammed. His recent statements and actions are a clear indication of his disdain for the unity and progress of Nigeria. His opposition to President Tinubu’s reforms is not rooted in any genuine concern for the nation, but rather, a desperate attempt to cling to the corrupt practices of the past that have benefited him and his cronies.

“His actions have proven to be another emblem of trust betrayal placed in him by the people of Bauchi State and Nigeria at large. Apparently, El-Rufai, on the other hand, is a confused man with an emaciated political career.

“His emaciated political relevance has driven him into reckless rhetoric and divisive politicking, all in a futile attempt to revive his presidential ambitions. His recent utterances and actions are a clear indication of his disconnect from the aspirations of the Nigerian people. He has become a divisive figure, attempting to pit the North against the rest of the country for his personal gain.

“Indeed, it is disheartening that leaders entrusted with the responsibility of creating unity and development have instead chosen the path of betrayal and self-interest. Their antics are a betrayal of trust, not only to the North but to the entire nation.

“They are pursuing a divide and rule strategy that is antithetical to the spirit of unity and progress that Nigeria desperately needs. Let us be clear: these leaders are not speaking for the North, they are only serving their selfish agendas.

“Nevertheless, the Arewa Youth Leaders and Professionals Forum firmly stands with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration’s economic reforms. These reforms, though admittedly challenging in the short term, are necessary steps to reposition Nigeria for growth, development, and progress.

“However, it is evident that those opposing these reforms are individuals who have been beneficiaries of the flawed systems of past administrations. From subsidy removal to tax reforms. President Tinubu’s policies are aimed at correcting the ills of the past, ills that have kept us bound to a cycle of corruption and underdevelopment.

“Yet, these so-called northern leaders who cry foul at the mention of change, are angry because these changes threaten their stomach infrastructure and the corrupt privileges they have enjoyed. Indeed, Governor Bala Mohammed and Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s positions are not representative of the true voices of the North.

“The North is a region built on principles of fairness, justice, and patriotism. The North supports reforms that uplift the nation, even if they require sacrifices. Perhaps, it is time to question the motives of these so-called northern leaders. Are they truly concerned about the welfare of the masses, or are they merely seeking to protect their personal interests? Their actions suggest the latter.

“Evidently, these leaders have chosen to exploit the challenges that come with reforms to sow discord and manipulate public sentiment. This divide-and-rule strategy is not new, but it is one that we, as Arewa youths and professionals, reject outrightly.

“Nevertheless, we acknowledge that President Tinubu’s reforms come with short-term inconveniences. Change is never easy, especially when it disrupts the norm that everyone is accustomed to. However, the long-term benefits of these reforms far outweigh the temporary discomfort“.

“From Waste to Wealth: Kaduna Scavengers Pioneer Innovative Manure Business

Mike Odeh James

In a remarkable example of entrepreneurship and resourcefulness, a group of scavengers in Kaduna has transformed a once-neglected sewage dump site into a thriving business venture. By converting decomposed sewage into valuable manure, these scavengers have not only improved their livelihoods but also contributed to environmental sustainability.

Located in the Katanga Community of Chikun Local Government Area, the sewage dump site has been converted into a bustling hub of activity, with over 150 scavengers working together to generate manure for agricultural use. Led by Mallam Zubairu, the scavengers have established a well-organized leadership structure, ensuring efficiency and orderliness in their operations.

The scavengers’ journey into the manure business began over three years ago, when they were forced to flee their farms due to bandit attacks. Today, they generate significant revenue from the sale of manure, with each truckload fetching not less than N8,000. The scavengers also pay N1,000 in taxes to the local authority, demonstrating their commitment to contributing to the local economy.

Mallam Suleiman Kawosu, one of the scavengers, travels over 70 kilometers from Zaria to participate in the business. He sells a truckload of manure for not less than N10,000, which enables him to support his family of nine children.

While the scavengers’ innovative venture has brought economic empowerment and improved their livelihoods, environmentalists have raised concerns about the potential health and environmental implications of the business. Gloria Kasang Bulus, an environmentalist, noted that the scavengers often neglect health measures while handling the sewage, and some parts of the sewage are being burnt, contrary to environmental precautions.

To address these concerns, climate experts, including Gloria Kasang Bulus and Zinta Istifanus, emphasized the need for strict adherence to global environmental best practices. They also highlighted the importance of providing support and resources to the scavengers to ensure the sustainability of their business.

The tour to the sewage dump sites, organized by Bridge That Gap Initiative, aimed to provide journalists and environmentalists with firsthand information on environmental and climate change issues. By sharing their stories and experiences, the scavengers hope to inspire others to adopt innovative and sustainable practices that promote environmental conservation and economic empowerment.

“Resist Any Attempt to Relocate Romi Kad’ Poly Campus to Rigachikun,’ Group Implores Stakeholders

By. Mike James Odeh

A Kaduna based pressure group, “Eagle Brain,” has called on all stakeholders in the state to stop any planned relocation of
the College of Administrative and Social Studies, Kaduna Polytechnic, Romi, Kachia road.
A Statement made available to newsmen in Kaduna Thursday, signed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eagle Brain, Comrade Dan Ejembi said the rumored relocation, if confirmed as true, would have devastating consequences on the wellbeing of the community, especially on youths development.

Reads the Statement: “As a civil society organization dedicated to the promotion of justice, equity, and the advancement of educational opportunities in our communities, we at Eagle Brain feel compelled to address a pressing issue that threatens the very fabric of our society – the rumored relocation of the College of Administrative and Social Studies, Kaduna Polytechnic (Romi Campus, by Kachia road) and the alarming demarcation of its land into plots.

“Education is undeniably the cornerstone of societal development. It shapes minds, fosters innovation, and drives economic growth.
“The presence of higher education institutions in our communities not only enhances access to quality education but also stimulates local economies by creating jobs and supporting businesses that cater to students and staff.
“The College of Administrative and Social Studies has been a vital institution for the people of Chikun Local Government and its surrounding areas, providing invaluable services and opportunities for youth development.

“However, during a recent visit to the campus, we observed unsettling activities that warrant immediate attention.
“The open fields surrounding the school, which have historically served as communal spaces for students and the local youth, are being cultivated and demarcated into numbered plots. This alarming development raises serious concerns about the future of the institution and the community it serves.

“Moreover, there are rumors of the school’s relocation to Rigachikun, a move that would displace students, staff, and local businesses, leading to significant economic and social dislocation.
“The implications of such a decision are profound: loss of educational access, disruption of livelihoods, and the dismantling of a critical support system for the youth of our community.

“We must ask ourselves: Who stands to benefit from these actions? Why is there a concerted effort to undermine the educational foundation of our community?

“The answers to these questions are crucial as we seek to protect our rights and the future of our youth.

“As a community, we cannot stand idly by while these injustices unfold. We urge all stakeholders, including the Federal Government, Kaduna State Government, Chikun Local Government, civil society organizations, community groups, faith-based organizations, political leaders, traditional institutions, youth organizations, student associations, opinion leaders, and concerned citizens, to rise and demand accountability,” the statement continued.

Eagle Brain wants stakeholders to:

“Investigate the Allegations: Demand transparency regarding the demarcation of land and the rumored relocation of the college. Who is responsible for these actions, and what are their intentions?

“Protect Our Educational Institutions: Advocate for the preservation of the College of Administrative and Social Studies as a vital resource for our community. It is essential that we safeguard our access to education and the opportunities it provides.

“Support Local Youth: Recognize the importance of the college’s facilities, such as the playground, which serves as a hub for youth engagement and development. We must ensure that our young people have spaces to grow, learn, and thrive.

“Mobilize Community Action: Encourage community members to voice their concerns and stand united against any actions that threaten our educational institutions and the well-being of our community.

“In conclusion, we at Eagle Brain have raised our voices in protest against this injustice. Now, we implore you to join us in this critical fight for the future of our youth and the integrity of our community. Together, we can ensure that our educational institutions remain a beacon of hope and opportunity for generations to come.”
