No cabal in Presidency, Tinubu in Charge….. Sunday Dare declares

By; PETER NOSAKHARE, Kaduna

Newly appointed Special Adviser to Mr. President on Communication and Orientation, Sunday Dare, has diffused claims of a “cabal” operating within the presidency, insisting that President Bola Tinubu remains fully in charge of the nation’s governance.

Speaking on the television programme Politics, hosted by Femi Akande, Dare addressed the theme “Rebuilding Nigeria Through the Tinubu Reforms,” and clarified the misconception around a so-called cabal.

According to Dare, the term “cabal” has been misapplied to individuals who, due to their key roles, have regular briefings with the president.

Dare, who until this appointment was Sports Minister stated that “these figures are simply essential advisors who provide critical information for decision-making.”

He said, “I think we’ve become so comfortable with the idea of the cabal, and you must understand how the idea of the Cabal, the people they call the Cabal, are the people that are holding the key sectors of the economy.

He added that “these are people who are advisors, who must advise the President on trends, who must put critical data in front of him, and they have access to him.”

Dare pointed to the Finance Minister’s frequent briefings as an example, noting that “proximity to the president does not imply hidden influence.”

Government Urged to Release Minors Arrested During Protests

By Suliman Abutu

Senator Shehu Sani has strongly condemned the involvement of minors in protests, describing it as “most unfortunate and shameful” for Nigeria’s democracy. The former lawmaker, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial zone in the 8th Senate, urged the federal government to withdraw charges against the minors and return them to their states.

Sani, also a human rights activist, expressed his concerns via his social media handle, stating: “The arrangement of those minors for their participation in protest is most unfortunate and shameful for our country’s democracy. The FG should withdraw the charges against them and return them back to their states.”

HISTORIC LEGACY: Nita Byack George Hands Over Jaba LGA Leadership Baton, Leaves Indelible Mark as Nigeria’s Longest Serving Female Administrator

Read Her Full Valedictory Speech

Dear Fellow Hamites

It is with a heart full of gratitude that I address you today, perhaps for the last time, as the Administrator of our dear LGA, Jaba. It has been an honour and a privilege to serve my people in the capacity of Council Administrator for the past three years and I return the honour and glory to God Almighty for life, health, love, and salvation.

My profound gratitude remains with my dear Boss, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency, Sen. Uba Sani, his amiable Deputy Governor, and my mentor, Her Excellency, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe and all other top government functionaries in Kaduna State for the trust and confidence reposed on me by giving me the opportunity, not only to serve my community but to equally make the record of being the longest serving female LG Administrator in Nigeria.

The experience working with Your Excellencies has been remarkable, and I am deeply indebted to you for this rare privilege of your mentorship.

From the inception of my administration, when we visited our communities and districts, seeking the opinions of our people that would shape and guide the policies of my administration, I felt the power of your support, your collective energy, and the endless goodwill that unequivocally propelled us to achieve many things.

This explains why our policies, programmes and projects were aimed at lifting more of our people out of poverty and equally making every part of the LGA safer, more accessible and economically viable. Reawaking our consciousness of our huge economic potential and working towards harnessing it to be emancipated economically remained our top priority and a driving force behind all our decisions and policy implementations.

Amidst our very popular programs and projects such as the ” Sha’ruwa Lafia Project,” which ensured the drilling of over Forty (40) solar-powered Boreholes across the Ten (10) Wards of Jaba LG, supported by the SDGs intervention.

The “Taimakon Jarin Mata Project” empowered about 400 women with small business startup capital, and the “Taimakon Manoma Project” empowered young farmers with irrigation water pumping machines for dry season farming, fertilizer, and other farming support. The latest “Farmers and Herders Peace Engagement”, across the three Districts of the LG, initiating the “All Ham Games Festival 2022”, marking the 85th Birthday of HRH KpopHam Dr. Danladi Gyet Maude OON, and Jaba@32, hosting and supporting the biggest and auspicious “TukHam 2024”, Health, Education and other Infrastructural projects as capture on our Scorecard, which were hallmarks of our administration, there could be a few of our policies which might have been unpopular but these were decisions taken with the best interest of our LGA at heart.

Even in those challenging times, your love and support, patience and understanding, hate speeches and constructive criticisms, helped us surmount the challenges and made us grow stronger each day.

As an indigen of Jaba LGA, all I wanted was to be a part of the development of my community, and glory to God Almighty, His Excellency and the good people of Jaba LGA gave me that opportunity and even more.

Our LGA, therefore, remains a land of opportunities, a home for everyone, and a place where dreams come true. My administration ensured that this idea was amplified and instilled in the consciousness of every indigen and resident of Jaba. It is, therefore, our duty and responsibility to ensure that we remain a centre of opportunities and growth for everyone;

Fellow Hamites, it has been a remarkable journey; one in which we have pushed boundaries and moved our dear LGA to another level. A journey in which we have transformed many aspects of our LGA and set the ball rolling for rapid economic growth in different areas of human endeavour. However, there is still a lot more to be done and it will not only be the job of the government but a collective responsibility for all of us. In Jaba LGA, everyone counts, and we all have a part to play.

Today, there will be a change of guard in our LGC. I will be stepping down and a new LGC Chairman will be sworn in. We will have a new Chairperson and a new administration but with the same objective: the task of achieving a better Jaba. Andrge that the same courtesy and cooperation you gave me to succeed be extended to the incoming administration to ensure our collective success.

While I heartily congratulate Hon. Larai Sylvia Ishaku on her swearing-in as the Executive Chairperson of Jaba LGC, I wish to call on the attention of other women/gender advocates as myself, States and Federal Governments and the international community to the history that is recorded today in Kaduna State in our journey towards the attainment of SDG Goal 5, Gender Equality.

For the first time, a female LGC Chairperson hands over the leadership baton to another female Chairperson. This is a huge achievement for the journey that began decades before the Beijing Conference and must be given its deserved attention.

I am immensely grateful to the Traditional Council under the able guidance of HRH, Dr. Danladi Gyet Maude, OON, the Kpop Ham, the Christian Association of Nigeria ( CAN) Jaba Chapter, Jama’atu Nasir Islam (JNI), Jaba LG chapter, the Jaba LG Joint Staff Union, all standing committees of the LG, the Ham Community Development Association (HAMCDA) and it’s affiliates, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and it’s affiliates, all our security Agencies, Civil Society groups such as the Community Development Chartered(CDC), etc, our community stakeholders and opinion leaders, for their immense support and solidarity throughout our three years tenure.

I equally reserve special thanks to my team members, inclusive of all my Councillors who started well and ended well inspite of all our challenges. The lies and betrayals broke us, but our determination and focus built us stronger together. Though we lost some of us to the cold hands of death, I am most proud of the assets I discovered in the few of you and look forward to another opportunity to work with you as I wish you very well in Your life endeavour.

To the leadership, elders, stakeholders, and members of my great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Jaba, Kaduna State, and Nigeria, I say a big thank you for being the platform upon which I stand. Thank you for standing with me and defending me against all the lies, backstabbing, gangs, and connivance of my enemies.

To my dear brother and friend, Hon. Mara Henry, Member Representing Jaba at the Kaduna State House of Assembly, and Hon. Amos M. Gwamna, I say thank you for the opportunity to experience a healthy work relations with you. Your support indeed strengthened me and made my job easier.

To the Kaduna State Government led by Gov. Uba Sani, and to the Ministry for Local Government Affairs led by Hon. Maman Lagos, to the Management and Staff of Jaba LGA, to my dear supporters and women of Ward 11, to my cheerleaders, critics, and well-wishers, to my extended family and all members of the Har Thouno, I owe you all a debt of gratitude for your immense support in the last three years.

To my lovely family, my dear husband, Mr. George Iruobe, and our three lovely children, Jazmin, Jason, and Janaya who have had to endure many days and nights without me; To my dear father, Mr. Shehu Byack, and my only sibling alive, Mr. Emmanuel Shehu, and to the loving memories of my Mother Late Mrs.Rose Shehu Byack (Uwani Damago), and elder sister Late Ms. Fatima Shehu, I thank you for your love and steadfastness. You will continue to be my greatest motivator, pillar of strength and support.

To all Hamites of Jaba LG and those in the diaspora, let us hold hands and walk our community into the luminous. Let’s love truly, let’s speak wisely, let’s fight for each other, but not against one another, for at the end of it all, we have no one else but each other.
My love and respect, always.

Long live Jaba LGA!
Long live Kaduna State!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

Signed
Hon. Mrs. Nita Byack George.
The Administrator, Jaba LGC

Timi Frank Condemns Scrapping Of Niger Delta Ministry, Seeks Urgent Reversal

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Friday condemned in strong terms the purported scrapping of the Ministry of Niger Delta by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and called for reversal to status quo.

President Tinubu had on Wednesday, among other far-reaching decisions and policy statements, announced the scrapping of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.

He equally created the Ministry of Regional Development to superintend over all zonal interventionist bodies in the countries like the Niger Delta Development Commission, North East Development Commission etc.

However, Frank in a statement in Abuja described the President’s action concerning the abolition of the Niger Delta Ministry as “hasty and biased” without due consideration to the history, purpose, symbolism and significance of the ministry.

He recalled that the ministry was created by late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua of blessed memory as a child of necessity to help rev up economic development of the Niger Delta Region by carrying out focused critical interventions to revitalise the degraded eco-system occasioned by long years of oil exploration and production.

He recalled that since its creation, incidences of youth restiveness and damage to oil installations which germane to the economic survival of the country have been reduced to the barest minimum.

He wondered why the President would choose to increase the economic and social burdens of Niger Deltans instead of lighten them.

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, said: “The President took this overly biased and hasty decision to scrap a Ministry which hitherto symbolised integration, hope, economic and environmental wellbeing of the people of Niger Deltans whose resources are being continuously exploited to service other regions, the devastating environmental impact on the people notwithstanding.

“It is obvious that this biased highly discriminatory, oppressive decision was taken without any iota dialogue with or regard for the leaders and people of the Niger Delta Region and we call on the President to urgently reverse this knee-jerk decision and restore the ministry in the interest of peace, economic wellbeing of the federation and survival and sustainability of the people of the region.

“We dare say that the development of Niger Delta as the goose that lays the golden egg and too critical to be subsumed under the Ministry of Regional Development where it would obvious be starved of attention due to political exigencies in favour of other regions.

“Is it not suspicious that President Tinubu created a Ministry of Livestock Development to appease and curtail the incidences of farmers/Herders crisis in the North, but chose abolish a ministry created to solve youth restiveness and and incessant crises and agitations for resource control in the Niger Delta?”

“Is it unfortunate that the President has chosen to disdain and disrespect and victimise the Niger Delta people by treating them like an outcast not minding that it is the Region that creates the greater percentage of the nation’s common wealth.

“How have the people of Niger Delta region and their illustrious leaders offended the President to warrant this fiat reversal of their fortunes and symbol of belongingness?

“We believe it is not too late for the President to press the undo button capable of saving the region from impending cataclysmic upheavals that may result from this obnoxious action.

“It is important to note that the ministry was born out of negotiation and any subsequent actions concerning ministry must be through negotiations and dialogue.

“We hereby call on the president to heed to the call of Chief E.K Clark as the leader and pride of the Niger Delta Region and also the call by Alhaji Asari Dokubo who is one of his major supporters in the region, to reverse the vindictive decision immediately and call a stakeholders’ meeting for dialogue.

“Above all, the President must be prepared to take full responsibility of the actions of the Niger Delta people if and when they decide to react to this monumental injustice and victimization.”

Truth Revealed: Senator Danjuma Laah Clears Air on Malicious N390M Allegations

By Musawa Ado

Kaduna, Nigeria – Senator Danjuma Laah, the immediate past Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District at the 8th Assembly, has refuted allegations of misappropriating N390 million meant for Zonal Intervention Projects and Capital Projects in his zone.

A recent publication on Metro Daily online titled “Former Sen. Laah in Murky Waters over N390M Kaduna South Senatorial District ZIP, Capital Project Funds” alleged that Senator Laah collected the funds via Ministries, Departments, and Agencies 14 months after losing his seat.

However, Alh. Yahaya Suleiman, former aide to Senator Laah on Project Monitoring, described the allegations as “fake news” and “highly malicious and libelous.” He clarified that Senator Laah never carried out any contract or was directly or indirectly linked to any companies that executed constituency and capital projects during his tenure.

Suleiman provided further clarification, stating that Senator Laah’s major mandate was to ensure project execution and quality based on contract specifications. He also emphasized that there is no location as “Zangon Kataf – Kwali road” in Kaduna South Senatorial Zone, and that the National Livestock Training Center, Kachia project, was never included in Senator Laah’s constituency projects.

Additionally, Suleiman revealed that MOFTREH CONSTRUCTION Nigeria Ltd executed the Rehabilitation/Reconstruction Of Kwoi – Kafanchan Road, with no links to Senator Laah. He challenged anyone with contrary facts to produce evidence, emphasizing that Senator Laah is a philanthropist committed to his people’s progress and well-being.

The ICPC, not EFCC, is responsible for investigating National Assembly members’ constituency and capital projects. Suleiman urged the writer to approach ICPC with a petition instead of spreading false information. Senator Laah is considering legal actions against the perpetrators of this malicious story.

Efforts to verify the authenticity of Metro Daily’s publication revealed that the address provided, Plot 273 Reinsurance Building Herbert Macaulay Way 2nd Floor, C Wing, Central Business District (CBD) Abuja – FCT, does not exist. The contact number provided was also unreachable, indicating a deliberate attempt to deceive and mislead the public.

In conclusion, the allegations against Senator Danjuma Laah are baseless and malicious. His dedication to transparency and accountability remains unwavering, and he will continue to serve his people with integrity.

Senator Danjuma Laah has been known for his philanthropic efforts in Kaduna South, and his commitment to the progress and well-being of his people remains unshaken. Despite these malicious allegations, Senator Laah remains focused on his mission to serve his people.

The Office of Senator Danjuma Laah has assured that appropriate legal actions will be taken against those responsible for spreading these false allegations.

Frank Condemns Burning Of LG Secretariats In Rivers, Demands Wike, Egbetokun’s Resignation

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Tuesday, condemned in strong terms the burning of two Local Council secretariats by sponsored thugs in Rivers State following the outcome of last Saturday’s local governments elections.

While sympathising with Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and the people of Rivers state over the unfortunate incident, Frank in a statement in Abuja, said the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, should not only resign their positions but they should be held accountable for the wanton destruction of government property and shedding of innocent blood being witnessed in Rivers.

Frank categorically accused the police of openly supporting sponsored political thugs that set ablaze the council headquarters, saying, “no sooner did the IGP ordered the withdrawal of policemen from the council secretariats than the hoodlums descended on them without any action on the part of the Force to prevent or bring the orgy of violence under control.”

While welcoming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s order to the Police to act to safeguard lives and property in Rivers State in the face of violence, he described the President’s intervention as coming too late, biased and skewed in favour of the pro-Wike faction now wrecking havoc in the state.

Frank said: “Wike has been boasting that he has the President’s blessings to do and undo in Rivers State as well as carry out any action aimed at destabilizing Governor Fubara’s administration and make the entire State ungovernable and he has done it.

“Wike equally vowed to set fire on any state opposed to him and he has commenced by setting Rivers State ablaze, yet President Tinubu and the relevant security agencies have not deemed it necessary to call Wike to order or invite him for questioning, simply because their grand conspiracy and plot to use the oil rich state to win the 2027 presidential election.

“It is highly unfortunate that the President is being perceived as tacitly encouraging his minister to cause mayhem in Rivers State because he thinks it will benefit him in the 2027 presidential but this must stop.

“Enough is enough. Wike and the Inspector General of police must go. They must be held accountable for this arson. The perpetrators must be arrested and brought to justice.

“All patriotic Nigerians including former Presidents and heads of Labour and Trade Unions must speak up to save Rivers State and its oil facilities from destruction by these sponsored arsonists.

“President Tinubu must for once act as the Commander-In-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and not the commander-in-chief of the All Progressives Congress and political stooges.

The President swore to an oath to carry out his duties as President without fear or favour, but today it is glaring that he has taken sides with Wike against Rivers’ people.”

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, called on the United Nations to take note of what is currently playing out in Rivers State and hold the key aggressors and sponsors of violence to account through relevant international laws, conventions, covenants and protocols.

He also reiterated his call on the people of Rivers State to stand solidly behind Fubara in the face of gross violence and acts of provocation being meted on the state by external forces seeking to gain control of the resources and political capital of the state.

Timi Frank Accuses Wike Of Plot To Block Allocation To LGs In Rivers

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Sunday, raised the alarm over an alleged plot by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to secure a court injunction to block releases from the Federation Account to the 22 Local Government Councils in Rivers state.

Frank who made this disclosure in a statement in Abuja, said Wike and his co-travelers that are opposed to the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, resorted to the plot, following their failure to stop local government elections in the state which held successfully on Saturday October 5, 2024.

According to him, Wike through his proxies will tomorrow (Monday) or any day soon, approach a Federal High Court in Abuja with spurious writ with prayers that monthly funds allocation to the 22 LGAs in Rivers State should henceforth be withheld with claims that the elections were held in violation of a court ruling.

However, the Bayelsa-born political activist called on Wike to abandon the plot in the interest of the people of Rivers State and find alternative means to settle his rift with Governor Fubara.

He also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to allow Wike to dent his democratic credentials with such a retrogressive court action seeing that local councils in Lagos state suffered similar fate during his administration as Governor through the devious orchestration of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, also warned the Judiciary especially Judges and Justices always out to do Wike’s bidding for personal gain not to grant any frivolous prayer brought before them on this matter.

Besides, he condemned the partisan role the police have played so far in the
political crises rocking the state and called on them to protect all Rivers’ people instead of taking sides with the Ruling All Progressives Congress.

He said: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot afford to fold his arms and watch as Wike plots to reverse democracy in Rivers State and by extension Nigeria.

“The anti-democratic tendency of former President Olusegun Obasanjo who seized funds meant for local councils in Lagos during Tinubu’s administration as Governor must not be allowed to repeat itself in Rivers State.

“As we speak, Wike is putting finishing touches to plans to secure a kangaroo court order to stop monthly funds allocation to local government councils in Rivers State. This must not be allowed to happen.”

He warned that such a move could lead to economic disruption in Rivers State in particular and the country in general as well as reversal of of democratic gains the country has made since 1999.

“Any action capable of truncating democracy in the country similar to ongoing scenarios in some West African States must be avoided.

“The people of Rivers State have elected their council chairman and councilors in line with the recent ruling of the Supreme Court to democratize all LGAs in Nigeria and any attempt to truncate democracy in Rivers would be resisted by the people,” he said.

While urging Fubara not to be distracted by the evil machinations of his traducers and political opponents, he congratulated the people of Rivers for successfully electing their council representatives and urged them to redouble their support for the Governor.

POLITICAL VIOLENCE ROCKS KADUNA: MBF CONDEMNS MURDER OF PDP CANDIDATE

By Emmanuel Uangbaoje, Kaduna

The Middle Belt Forum (MBF), Kaduna State Chapter, has strongly condemned the murder of Raymond Timothy Adia, a 35-year-old Councilorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Pari ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Adia and his brother, James, were killed on their way home from a political event in Kisachi village on September 29, 2024.

According to the State Chairman, Luka Binniyat, “The Middle Belt Forum is deeply saddened by the senseless murder of Raymond Timothy Adia, a promising young leader who had dedicated his life to serving his community. This heinous act is a stark reminder of the growing insecurity and political violence in our state, and we demand that the authorities take immediate action to bring the perpetrators to justice.”

The MBF has called on law enforcement agencies to investigate the murder and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. The Forum also urged politicians to shun violence and promote peaceful and civilized politics.

Adia’s murder is the latest in a series of violent incidents in Southern Kaduna, which has been plagued by ethnic and religious conflicts. The Middle Belt Forum has expressed concern that this trend of violence may be linked to the upcoming local government elections scheduled for October 19, 2024.

The Forum condoled with the PDP family, Adia’s pregnant wife, and extended family, as well as Pari ward and Kauru Local Government Area. The MBF reiterated its commitment to promoting peace, justice, and democracy in Kaduna State.

Kaduna: Group trains 20 participants on Jju Wikipedia editing

By Israel Bulus, Kaduna

The Tyap Wikipedia User Group has trained 20 participants to become Jju Wikipedia editors to help improve the translation and editing skills of the literate Bajju people predominantly found in Kaduna State.

PUNCH reports that the training was aimed at inculcating the participants with the necessary knowledge on how to edit specific articles from English Wikipedia to the jju language in the Wikimedia Incubator and Translatewiki websites.

The Executive Director of Tyap Wikimedians User Group, Levi Kambai Timothy, while fielding questions from AREWA PUNCH on Monday, said the Jju Wikipedia Outreach was designed to kick-start training of Jju speakers on how to create articles in the Wikimedia incubator.

He explained that the Wikimedia incubator is a site that’s owned by the Wikimedia Foundation, noting that it’s the site that usually introduces languages that’ll eventually become Wikipedias, Wiktionaries, etc., in the future.

” The Jju Wikipedia was introduced in the incubator just early this month and we didn’t have anything serious happening on the website, but we believe with this very program we now have 15 editors who speak the Jju and at least 5 of them are experts in writing the Jju language who will serve as guides to others within the time frame.

He said the response from the participants was very encouraging unlike when they had the first Tyap Wikipedia language training which the numbers were less and they had a lot of people who couldn’t read or write in the Tyap language but right here in the Jju training they have members of the Jju language board and 3 people who also know how to read and write in Jju.

” We are confident that these members of the Jju development board will be able to help those who are present in their spellings to be in uniform and not spell words incorrectly,” Levi added.

He disclosed that their motto for the Tyap Wikimedians User Group was to promote the Wikimedia projects in Tyap and Nenzit sister-languages.

” Our Wikimedia Foundation affiliate is bearing the name Tyap Wikimedians User Group but we have the intention of renaming it to the Nenzit Wikimedians User Group and the organization so that we can capture everybody.

” For some who do not know what Nenzit is, the Nenzit identity was first promoted in the 1950s by the first educated clergies in Southern Kaduna when it was called Southern Zaria, and the Jos Plateau.

” People like Rev. Nwayya Bagayya from Gworog and Rev. David Lot from Jos, these are people from Southern Kaduna, Plateau, Nasarawa, Southern Bauchi, Southern Gombe, Niger, Southern Kebbi, and Taraba, in the Middle Belt, who saw the need to reintegrate into one because we have so many ethnic groups and languages that are related, having the same culture and religion, but don’t have a common sense of belonging together or a common name.

“So, we want to promote all the Plateau languages under the Nenzit and inculcate them into the Wikimedia projects. After we are done with the Jju language we’ll then extend the work to other languages.” Kambai stated.

One of the participants, Antyokaryi Joshua Nzamah, commended the Wikimedians User Group for the initiative, saying that the project will not only help to preserve languages but also document them.

This initiative is trying to see how our languages that are fast going into extinction can be preserved, documented and made accessible to the people on the Internet.
