the Zamfafa State Governor, His Excellency Bello Muhammad Matawalle,
pleading that you should kindly order both the Ministry of Finance and the

immediately release our long overdue rice subsidy payment receivable from
the State Government’s Civil Servants Welfare Scheme executed in June,
2020.

Under the approval of your Excellency, in June 2020, we were awarded a
supply contract by the Directorate of Labour Matters. Irrevocable Payment
Guarantees were issued to us by Zamfara State’s Head of Civil Service,
Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Local Government and Community
Development.

The payment terms of the referenced contract provided that Zamfara State
Government will pay N5,000 per bag on behalf of all benefitting Civil
Servants while the benefitting Civil Servants would pay N14,000 per bag
via salary deduction. We were assured by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters that the agreed subsidy shall be paid to us immediately after our delivery of the rice contracted to us since, according to him, the State Government had provided funds for the payment of the

Trusting on the integrity of your Government, we proceeded to take a 120-days loan from Capitalfield Financial Management Limited to enable us

Furthermore, we had decided to support your new administration in executing this Staff Welfare Scheme while risking our own lives by defying the then ravaging Covid 19 and the rampancy of banditry in and around Zamfara State.

Sir, it is almost 3 years now after the completion of the said supply during
which time we have waited painfully, lobbied extensively and pushed hard
for the payment of the promised subsidy without getting our payment.

Your Excellency, the refusal of your Government to pay the subsidy per the
term of the said contract has totally crashed the business of our small
company while our loan balance with the lenders has grown more than thrice the amount of the original loan we actually took due to accumulated monthly interest and daily default penalty. Sadly, our lenders are now in the process of foreclosure on the collateral pledged for the loan while our company promoters currently live under untold pressure and debilitating stress.

Timi Frank Urges NDDC Board To Release Forensic Audit Report

“Congratulates new mgt

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Timi Frank, on Sunday, congratulated the newly inaugurated management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), led by Lauretta Onochie as chairman and Mr. Samuel Ogbuku as managing director.

Frank in a statement in Abuja, urged the new board to prioritise the interest and development of the Niger Delta region.

He reminded the board that NDDC should not be construed as an appendage of the ruling APC but a special purpose vehicle meant to ameliorate the sufferings of the people due to long years of neglect and environmental degradation brought about by the activities of oil exploration, production and spillage.

He however, called on the new board to urgently make public the report of the forensic audit of the agency carried out last year for “the purpose of accountability, transparency and to set the tone for good corporate governance and zero tolerance for corruption under their watch.”

He also called on the board not to politicise the activities of the agency but rather to carry the communities and all critical stakeholders in the region, especially the youths, along throughout their tenure.

He lamented that despite the noble objectives for setting up the agency as clearly enunciated in the Act establishing the Commission, past managements have turned the place to a cash cow for a few politicians both within and outside the region.

He described the incumbent Managing Director of NDDC, Dr Ogbuku, as his friend and urged him to bring his wealth of experience, professionalism and integrity to bare in the administration of the agency.

The Bayelsa-born political activist said: “As a friend, I will commend the agency if it stays true to its mandate under your tenure but I will not also fail to expose any iota of corruption or other forms of illegalities should I notice such in the commission going forward.

“I congratulate the new board and urge them to distance themselves from the predisposition of past leadership of the agency that turned the Commission to a cesspit of corruption and rendered it comatose.

“The new board must demonstrate a clean break with the sordid past of the agency by urgently making the report, findings and recommendations of the forensic audit carried out last year in the agency public.

“The exercise was carried out with tax payers’ money and all Nigerians, especially the people of the Niger Delta, deserve to know why the agency became a personal estate for a few eggheads instead of the generality of the people of the Niger Delta region.

“Let the board know that some of us are critical stakeholders in the region. Our duty is to closely monitor the activities of the Commission. If they do well we shall commend them. But if they neglect their duty and focus on illegalities we shall expose them.”

He called on the new board to equally probe the activities of the immediate past sole administrator of the agency, Mr Effiong Akwa and that of the last acting MD of the agency, Engr Emmanuel Audu-Ohwavborua, who served for about two months before the inauguration of the substantive management.

Frank said: “Information at my disposal show that the last acting MD following the sack of Akwa allegedly awarded 38 contracts to few firms within a space of two months as well as spent a whopping N500million to purchase Christmas rice out of which not even a grain got to any household in the region.”

He also called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to urgently investigate the tenure of the immediate past sole administrator and last acting MD of the Commission who spent about two months.

He however, warned that if the present administration failed to disclose the audit report and ensure that the indicted political leaders who connived to loot the resources of the region over the years are not prosecuted, the incoming PDP government will not spare anyone that partook in any form of illegality while managing the affairs of the agency.

I Will Clear Nigeria’s N77trn Debt In Three Budget Cycles ― SDP’s Prince Adewole Adebayo

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) presidential candidate for 2023, has stated that he will pay off Nigeria’s N77 trillion debt in three budget cycles.

He claims he is not concerned about inheriting the N77 trillion debt left by the current government.

Adebayo stated this in an exclusive online interview with Tribune, telling Nigerians not to be concerned about evidence of failure by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, which hired an unimaginative team to lead the Central Bank of Nigeria and create debts rather than manage the economy.

He stated that he sees no liability in Nigeria as he prepares to activate the country’s various assets in order to transform the country’s dire situation into one of international envy.

Adebayo told Tribune Online that he decided to run for president of Nigeria because of the numerous challenges that the country faces, which he sees as no challenge at all given the country’s vast assets.

In his words; “I knew these problems before I declared to run. In fact if these problems were not there, I would not have taken interest to run.

“When you have a debt profile that is put at N177 trillion, you are looking at the death side, what about the asset side?

“When I take my oath of office I am not just inheriting the debt, I am inheriting 220 million people, I am inheriting entrepreneurs.

Nigerians are so lively highly energetic and already to work. I am inheriting the largest gas reserve. I am inheriting a vast agricultural land.

“I mean everything, all other things, solid minerals and all other assets. so the debt is so small when compared to the assets that we have. So, what I will do is, looking at structure of our debt.

“If I push our revenue up by 32 % we will be fine but the window of pushing our revenue up is about 300 percents. And if I push down the wastage and the corruption by three quarters 75% with some saving pockets here and there. And do some mop up. I think that Nigerians would not even remember that we have debt profile at all.

“We will retire the debts within three budget, the debt will be insignificant and the people will get employment, if I get 30 million jobs added to the workforce. The taxation on pay as you earn alone, will wipe this debt off.

“If I get agriculture productivity in four belts in the country, lower Kebbi upper Niger, in southern Kaduna plateau, axis, if I get agriculture in Oke Ogun. Part of south west Nigeria and do Agriculture in Benue that will significantly deal with the problem.

“I don’t worry about that. It is not the load that kills but how you carry it, so, these debts represent a deficits of imagination. A deficit of creativity, a deficit of competence. Why I said so is not because I am in the mood to insult anybody.

“I said so because their original sin is not managing our revenue accruers very well because they didn’t mandate revenue accruers due to three problems that they have created for them selves include the fact that they don’t have the competence to do an appraisal of revenue profile and capture all the revenue subheads and govern all the revenue sub-head prudently.

“Secondly, they are tardy in administration and supervision as the result? So many leakages even within the one they captured.

“Thirdly, they have collected campaign funding and other support from those who are benefiting from leakages and blind spots?

“So in other to keep their friends happy with them the their political structures, they have created no-go areas, as a result of that, they are not able to capture enough revenue.

“Because they have hired an unpatriotic and unimaginative Governor of central bank. So they’re able to create debts, like a drunken sailor and turned he central bank to a casino that is why they have all these crises.“

2023: SDP Will Win, Regardless of Presidential Media Poll Says SDP Flag Bearer Prince Adebayo

The Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo has expressed the belief that his party will win this year presidential election.

Prince Adebayo expressed the belief while expressing his thoughts on the social media polls conducted to gauge each party’s chances in the 2023 General Elections.

In his response, Prince Adebayo stated “Our Party runs issue-based campaigns rather than campaigns focused on trivial matters. In Nigeria, we are accustomed to seeing hired audiences turn out for campaigns, but because of the strong bonds we have built with the people, they warm up to us despite our lack of financial backing.“Some of the inquiries made on social media are not framed to address the problems at hand.

”The SDP presidential candidate further observed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) norms specify that no candidate should spend more than five billion Naira, yet politicians often violate them with impunity.

“The vast majority of expensive campaigns are carried out with enormous sums of money that were undoubtedly obtained illegally, and the majority of them do not address issues and how they affect the general public.

“As members of the SDP, we firmly believe that the Party belongs to the people, and we work to educate voters on topics like budgetary balance, security, housing, and education, among others,” he added.

Fuel Supply: Stop Sabotaging Nigerians, Threatening NNPCL, group warns DAPPMAN, Others

Urges IPMAN, PTD, NUPENG to prepare for subsidy removal

A citizens-led anti-sabotage group on the aegis of The Natives has cautioned Depots and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) and other stakeholders in the oil sector to stop threatening the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited in its efforts in the supply chain of petroleum products, thereby causing hardship for Nigerians.

The group also asked all the stakeholders in the oil industry to start preparing for fuel subsidy removal by June 2023, saying the country cannot continue with the regime of fuel subsidy that benefits only the few.

The anti-sabotage organisation was reacting to a media report credited to the Petroleum Tanker Drivers Branch of National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, (PTD-NUPENG) threatening another strike.

In the report NUPENG had accused security agents of “illegal activities and high-handedness” particulalrly the Military Task Force operating in the Port Harcourt zone of the Union.

But in a statement signed and released on Thursday in Abuja, by the President General of The Natives, Hon. Smart Edwards, the group said instead of threatening the NNPCL and sabotaging Nigerians, DAPPMAN and other Unions in the oil sector should devise another productive means of resolving impasse among the stakeholders and not causing Nigerians to be panic.

The statement said: “We read with disappointment the media reports credited to NUPENG against efforts to enforce sanity by joint task force on illegal activities by marketers and we called on DAPPMAN and other Unions in the Oil Sector to stop sabotaging the masses.

“We call on Depot Owners in the oil sector to stop their acts of economic sabotage capable of imposing hardship on the masses. We believe that your businesses should be done within the law. It is an act of sabotage when you purchase products at regulated prices and go on to sell at prohibitive prices to independent marketers, what then do you expect? This is profiteering at the expense of Nigerians and therefore evil.

“Nigerians are not having this conversation amnesia. In 2022 the nation witnessed a great discovery of a network of pipes shortchanging Nigeria’s crude oil pby collaborative theft, the same which led to a joint action to collapse and curb this evil venture by NNPCL and Tompolo’s company, we will therefore not take lightly any act capable of reinstalling this kinds of economic sabotage.

“The players in this sector must seek new ways of doing things with transparency and not transferring their sole goal of making profits on the masses. Lifting and storing of products are services rendered in a critical sector that affects all Nigerians, so it must not always be about threats.

“We must seek with the managers of the oil sector to begin to do things differently. Depot owners must begin to be patriotic.

“Again fuel susbidy will be removed in June this year and it is a must, therefore DAPPMAN and all other unions and associations must be ready to make sacrifices as the year progresses.”

While calling on all the Unions and associations in oil sector to be patriotic, The Natives demanded for elevation of transparency in their businesses.

“We also wish to make it abundantly clear that certainly transparency and patriotism must be elevated.

“We call on IPMAN, PTD and NUPENG to begin to look inwards, sanitize their midst and purge themselves and expel from their midst some unscrupulous members and unpatriotic players who engage in smuggling, to desist from this retrogressive acts declared on the Nation, so as to carry out their businesses without let or hindrance rather than accusing the military or security agencies of taking actions based on intelligence gathered.

This is a new year and the budget already is seeing N3.6 Trillion Naira been earmarked for fuel susbidy, when youths are earnestly yearning for jobs and better livelihood.

“Nobody will save us as a country except we ourselves. Nigeria’s resources are bleeding in the midst of blessings in natural resources, and citizens have been responsible for it, now that the country is aware, we cannot fold our hands, we all must set Eagle eyes on the players and cronies of the sector.

“We are tired of the blame games always let’s enthrone transparency.”
