SDP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, PRINCE ADEWOLE ADEBAYO URGES CHRISTIANS TO CONDEMN INJUSTICE

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has advised christians to call out injustice and corruption as a way to make the society better.

He made this known on Sunday December 25 when speaking during the Christmas concert oganised by Apostolic Faith Church Ondo State, at his residence.

Prince Adebayo said when public offices steal funds, the church should not encourage them by keeping silent but condemn it, as that is the only way God will have mercy upon Nigeria.

“My only advice to the church is, when they see people in public offices who have stolen fund, they shouldn’t say God has blessed you. When someone does injustice in politics, the church should cry out and say this is injustice. If the church does this, God will have mercy upon Nigeria and truth and justice will come”, he said.

The SDP presidential candidate, while commending what the church is doing in the state, said he will provide more infrastructure in the state.

The most important thing is power is useless. Purpose is more important. And everything that is kept in your hand is a trust from God. Even our own life is a trust. It doesn’t belong to you. If you live for 50 years and 100years it’s not because you have the best doctor. Is because God has a mission for you, He wants you to fulfill. I talk to my friends running for office. Those of yesterday have gone. The most important thing is, when you are here, make mark. We are here just like a shadow. Then we should do our best.

“We’ll do all the roads, as for the lights we have enough lights, the 615 solar lights we earlier commissioned is just one third, more will come. There’s no part of Ondo you will go and there will be no light”.

For her part, wife of the SDP presidential candidate, Queen Lilian Adebayo thanked everyone for gracing the event, while expressing hope that with God’s help and the vote of the people of the state, Prince Adebayo will emerge a winner at the polls.

She said, “It is a great privilege having the church here, I want to thank you all, especially for the playlet by the children which inspires me, it shows that man has no power, it is God who will do the choosing for us even for the position my husband is aspiring for. I know people will have to go out to vote but I know that God will do it”.

The highlight of the event was when gifts were presented to Prince Adebayo by different persons, and also the exchange of gifts between himself and little Ondo children.

Members of his entourage were – Chief Silas Alani, SDP southwest chairman, Mr Patrick Anethua SDP member Edo north, Godwin Osigbeme, Ambassador Rufus Aiyenugba SDP National Publicity Secretary.

Apostle Kure, who is also the Vision Pioneer Throne room Trust Ministry Kafanchan, reminded the people to continue to in the spirit of Christmas, show love and extend hands of fellowship to the needy as examplified during the life and times of Jesus Christ.

He prayed that the birth of Jesus Christ in this season will bring forth total healing in the land and restore hope to the people in this new year.

The SKCLA Chairman however, reminded those who are yet to collect their permanent voters card, to ensure they do so, so as to actively participate in chosing their leaders come February, 2023.

Frank Writes US, World Bank, IMF, Alleges Plot To Assassinate Emefiele

A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Thursday, raised the alarm over alleged plot to assassinate the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele.

Frank in a statement in Abuja called on the international community especially the United States of America, United Kingdom, European Union, World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to intervene to save Emefiele’s life and job.

Emefiele has been in the news of late following allegations that the Department of State Services (DSS) have plans to arrest and charge him for terrorism financing in order to forcefully and illegally remove him as the governor of the apex bank.

The DSS is Nigeria’s foremost secret police organization.

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, however urged the DSS to purge itself of partisanship by following due process if it has any evidence linking Emefiele to the said charge.

He insisted that the DSS have farmed out their men to allegedly harass, intimidate and arrest Emefiele on his way back into the country after an official assignment abroad.

He said: “I have it on good authority that some members of the present administration led by the APC in collaboration with some
security agencies are planning to assassinate Governor Emefiele.

“To me, it’s a plot to destabilise next year’s general elections. I plead with the the nation’s security agencies and their cohorts to halt this devious plan in the interest of the country.

“It is interesting to note that this same government through its security agencies like the DSS defended the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami, over his alleged past extremist views and support for Al-Qaeda and Boko Haram, even when the minister owned up to the past Islamic messages.

“Also, one of the Vice Presidential candidates who has been seen dining with Boko Haram leaders, including taking pictures with them has not been questioned or arrested by the DSS.

“It is worthy of note that the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had revealed in the past that six top Nigerians were part of those funding terrorism in Nigeria.

“The DSS has done nothing to bring these persons to justice, yet the agency is allegedly being swift in weaving a charge of terrorism financing against Emefiele.

“It is crystal clear that this plot is not far from the politics of 2023. Therefore, we appeal to the international community to wade in and call the people who want to execute this gross illegality against the CBN Governor to order.

“My guess is that some people are not comfortable with Emefiele’s policies, especially that of Naira notes’ redesign as it appears to thwart their plans for vote buying during the upcoming general elections.

“We, the citizens of this country,
will resist any form of intimidation as power must return back to the people, come 2023.
This is the time to work the talk on corruption by this government.

“It might interest the DSS to know that there’s a video in circulation where one of the presidential candidates was seen sharing money to supporters in broad daylight, an act that violates provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.

“Let me advise security agencies like the DSS to channel their energies to curtail such illegalities rather than embarking on a wild goose chase.

“I would like to use this opportunity to state that the members of the cabal plotting this evil are not happy with President Muhammadu Buhari’s principled stance on the conduct of a free and fair general elections come 2023.

“It is obvious that Mr. President will not endorse this type of illegality, hence some members of his administration have ganged up to plan the arrest and possible assassination of Emefiele.

“I have it on good authority that one of the Deputy Governors of the CBN, said to be loyal to one of the presidential candidates, is being primed to step into Emefiele’s shoes upon arrest.

“Therefore, he would be mandated to reverse all recent policies of the CBN, especially that of Naira notes’ redesign. My message to him and his cohorts is that they have failed!

“I dare the DSS to show Nigerians proof of Emefiele’s involment in any form terrorism related activities or else remain quiet and concentrate on their primary assignment.

“The DSS must steer clear of politics and immediately shelf their purported plans to arrest Emefiele on his way back into the country with the aim of embarrassing him.

“We call on the international community to wade in and mount pressure on the President to stop their plan to illegally and forcefully remove Mr. Emefiele as CBN Governor.

“In all, if anything untoward happens to Emefiele, the DSS must be ready to take full responsibility.”

SDP’s Manifesto Captures MKO Abiola’s Agenda for Better Nigeria – Adebayo

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) Presidential Candidate in 2023 general elections, Prince Adewole Adebayo , has disclosed the party’s manifesto is an improved version of thr presumed winner of the June 12, 1993, presidential election, the late MKO Abiola.

SDP presidential candidate made the disclosure during a live appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday.

While stating “the candidate we had in 1993 was a perfect candidate for 1993,” Adebayo added: . “The candidate we have for 2023 is a perfect candidate for 2023 with modern knowledge.

He continued: “All the good things that Chief MKO Abiola proffered in 1993, we’ve not forgotten any of them. What we have done is improve on each of them to meet modern times. So, we are better equipped now and the evidence of what we predicted is now clearer to the people.”

According to Adebayo, despite being surrounded by 21st-century advancements, there is a significant lack of basic infrastructure, job security, internal security, upward mobility, and more in the country.

“Once we eradicate poverty across the country, it wouldn’t matter whether you’re in the North or the South, the indices of poverty are the same, which is that people don’t have access to good food, housing, medical provision, and education. We need to make sure that we make investments in our people.

“Once we invest in all of those things, whether you’re in the North or South, I can guarantee you that an SDP government will be able to eradicate poverty in this country. At that time, we’ll have a new paradigm where people are being judged by the talent that they have and the ability they have to be productive.

“That was what we promised in 1993 in that book, ‘Farewell to Poverty,’ and that’s what we are promising now in ‘Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity.’ One thing is clear, the candidates are different. The only thing is that the candidate now is much improved,” he said.

Banditry: CDS Irabor has shown what a coordinated Armed force can achieve- Alkali

By Bashir Bello

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has been commended for coordinating the Armed Forces’ operations in the country’s defence. This was stated in an interview granted to the media on the efforts of the security agencies in addressing the challenges confronting the country.

Dr Nasir Alkali , a security expert and an associate professor at the Kwararafa University in Wukari, Taraba state, stated that the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has displayed a grasp of issues concerning tackling the security issues in the country.

“I have watched the Armed Forces’ renewed efforts in handling the country’s security issues closely. We have observed that the Armed Forces have recently engaged in joint operations, which has yielded tangible results.”

“This is unlike in times past when leadership was missing in the Armed Forces operations. This affected the operational effectiveness of the security agencies in tackling the security threats in the country.”

Dr Alkali cited the example of banditry and how the security agencies missed the opportunity in the past to nip the threat in the bud due to a lack of collaboration.

“The issue of banditry ought to have been dealt with long ago. But again, we are aware of the situation where the security agencies acted in insolation with no collaboration . Its operations were politicized, allowing the bandits to advance and gather momentum.”

“I recall that I made mention of the need for collaboration between the Armed Forces and that the Chief of Defence Staff as the head of the Armed Forces is expected to drive this initiative towards achieving results. That didn’t happen in the previous era. However, I am glad that General Irabor took the initiative by rejigging the Armed Forces operations with an emphasis on collaboration. This is indeed the game changer.”

He also stated that recent events regarding how the Armed Forces operations have been coordinated and the various security threats in the country would soon be a thing of the past.

“We can see progress with the efforts of the Armed Forces in addressing the security challenges in the country. It is indeed common sense to state that two heads are better than one. This is exactly what is happening in the operations of the Armed Forces. There is synergy, there is cooperation, and there is a result. We must commend the Chief of Defence Staff for this.”

“I am not surprised with what General Irabor has done. He is a known strategist who commands tremendous respect from the Armed Forces even before he was appointed Chief of Defence Staff. I have had some interactions with him at seminars and conferences, and I was never at a time surprised that he would do exploits given the opportunity.”

“His style has always been about joint efforts. He canvassed this much while he was the commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, which saw the decimation of the Boko Haram group. As surprising as this might sound, he constantly sought ideas from academia. On one occasion, at one of the conferences organized by the Defence Headquarters, it was robust and intellectually engaging. The Chief of Defense Staff mesmerized all present with his position paper emphasizing the need for collaborations within the Armed Forces.”

When asked about the effectiveness of the Armed Forces in internal security operations across the county, he stated that the operations of the Armed Forces are notable and responsible for the gains in addressing issues such as kidnapping, separatist agitations and other security challenges.

“In some quarters, it has been advocated that the Armed Forces have no business in internal security operations. Of course, that is from a position of ignorance. The Armed Forces’ involvement in internal security operations has been commendable.”

“Those of us in the academia understand that without the military’s involvement, it would have been a horrible case in the country. We should encourage rather than criticize the military’s involvement in internal security operations.”

“We must understand that the military’s involvement in internal security operations has saved the country from disaster. I have always mentioned at various forums that the present security architecture implemented by the Chief of Defense Staff is robust. He has also provided purposeful leadership in ways too numerous to mention.”

Dr Alkali opined that with the recent coordination and efforts of the Armed Forces, the security challenges in the country would be reduced to the barest minimum.

“The indices are there for all to see, and I couldn’t agree less that there is a new vigour in the operations of the Armed Forces. The Chief of Defence Staff should not rest on his oars until victory is achieved.”

It would be recalled that there has been an improvement in the management of the security situation in the country with the renewed collaboration among the security agencies in the country.
