Protest Against Fmr. NNPCL’s Boss,Mele Kyari is sponsored- Shehu Sani

Former senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District,Comrade Shehu Sani today wrote off the protest held by some groups in Abuja against former Group Chief Executive Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) ,as nothing, but sponsored project by some displeased or disgruntled oil interests .

According to him, most of the young guys he saw on the protest train , don’t actually know what they were protesting about, they just joined.

A group of protesters had on Tuesday stormed the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi to demand the prosecution of former Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari.

The group Led by its convener, Kabir Matazu, had expressed disappointment that, despite President Bola Tinubu’s removal of Kyari and the entire NNPCL board on April 2, 2025, no steps have been taken to investigate the alleged corrupt practices during Kyari’s tenure.

But Shehu Sani in a reaction to the protest via his social media handles said: “I came across some protesters at the Federal Secretariat Abuja, raising placards against the ex NNPCL CEO Kyari. Most of the young guys there, don’t actually know what they were protesting about. They just joined.

“It’s clearly a sponsored project by some displeased or disgruntled oil interests against Kyari.”

The lamaker strongly believes that Kyari is clearly one of the GMD’s that has distinguished himself not only as a dynamic business administrator, innovative manager, technocrat , transparent and accountability advocate but shown great dexterity in his leadership style.

He however, warned against people being used to destroy reputation of good leaders who put their all while holding public office.

Pressure Mounts by Youth in Kaduna State for Yerima Shettima to Declare Candidacy for the 2027 Elections

By Abdul-Azeez Suleiman

In the heart of Nigeria’s northern region lies Kaduna State, a melting pot of diverse cultures, ethnicities, and political ideologies. As the nation gears up for the 2027 elections, a palpable sense of urgency and enthusiasm can be felt, particularly among the youth. This demographic, which constitutes a significant portion of the population, is increasingly rallying around one figure: Yerima Shettima. A charismatic leader with a proven track record of youth engagement and advocacy, Shettima has become the focal point of a burgeoning movement urging him to declare his candidacy for the upcoming elections. The calls for his declaration are not merely a reflection of personal admiration; they signify a broader demand for a transformative leadership that resonates with the aspirations of the young populace.
In recent months, social media campaigns, grassroots mobilizations, and public demonstrations have surged in Kaduna State, all echoing a singular message: “We want Yerima Shettima to run!” This movement is fueled by a collective desire for representation that reflects the hopes and concerns of a generation often sidelined in political discourse. The youth, who are increasingly aware of their power as voters and change-makers, see Shettima as a leader who understands their struggles—be it unemployment, education, or social justice.
The youth in Kaduna State are not just passive supporters; they are active participants in shaping the political environment. Their engagement reflects a growing trend across Nigeria, where young people are asserting their rights and demanding accountability from their leaders. This shift is particularly significant in a state like Kaduna, which has experienced its share of socio-political challenges, including ethnic tensions and security issues. The youth’s demand for Shettima to declare his candidacy is, therefore, not just about individual preference; it is about a vision for a more inclusive and responsive governance that prioritizes their needs.
Yerima Shettima’s appeal lies in his charisma and his ability to connect with the youth on a personal level. As a prominent youth leader, he has championed various initiatives aimed at empowering young people, including skill acquisition programs, advocacy for education, and campaigns against youth unemployment. His commitment to these causes has earned him respect and admiration, positioning him as a relatable figure who embodies the aspirations of the youth.
Moreover, Shettima’s leadership style is characterized by inclusivity and engagement. He actively listens to the concerns of young people and incorporates their feedback into his initiatives. This participatory approach has fostered a sense of ownership among the youth, making them feel that their voices matter in the political arena. As he continues to consult and deliberate on his potential candidacy, the youth remain hopeful that he will ultimately choose to run, believing that his leadership could usher in a new era for Kaduna State.
For any political candidate, particularly one emerging from a grassroots movement, the guarantee of mass support is crucial. The youth in Kaduna State are not merely calling for Shettima to declare his candidacy; they are also demanding a commitment to the principles of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity. They want assurances that their interests will be prioritized and that their voices will be heard in the corridors of power.
This demand for a solid guarantee of mass support underscores the need for Shettima to engage in comprehensive consultations with various stakeholders, including youth groups, civil society organizations, and community leaders. By doing so, he can solidify his base and demonstrate that his candidacy is not just a personal ambition but a collective movement aimed at addressing the pressing issues facing the state.
As the 2027 elections approach, the pressure mounts for Yerima Shettima to declare his candidacy, fueled by the fervent support of the youth in Kaduna State. This movement represents a significant shift in the political landscape, highlighting the growing influence of young people in shaping Nigeria’s future. Shettima’s charisma and commitment to youth empowerment position him as a potential catalyst for change, but the path to candidacy requires careful consideration and engagement with the very constituents who rally behind him. The youth’s call for a solid guarantee of mass support is not just a demand for a leader; it is a clarion call for a new political paradigm that prioritizes the voices of the young and paves the way for a more inclusive and prosperous Kaduna State.

The group comprising residents and organic supporters of within Buhari’s Kaduna residence said it is highly unfortunate that he never considered anyone of them for appointments or employment during his days as President.

In a statement signed by the leader of the group,Mal Musa Ibrahim Usman, Former President Buhari We are most saddened at manner he abandoned the Yahaya Road mosque he used to pray before becoming President. Not even a praying may was sent to support growth and development of the worship place

The group in the statement lamented, “We can’t believe that with all our support over the years ,there is none amongst the neighbors around Ungwar Rimi and Ungwar Sarki that can boast that Buhari either helped them via any appointment with federal government; empowerment programme or any business initiative .

“It is regrettably that Since Buhari won elections in 2015 and left for Abuja as President, he never looked back to same place that helped to be president until after he lost power and became jobless.

Since 2003 when joined politics and ran for President under ANPP Teeming youths followed and supported Buhari wholeheartedly without financial gains

“We were not only surprised, but dissapointed that When the former Governor of Kaduna,Mal .Nasir Elrufai demolished our shops and houses, Buhari never made any attempt to intervene or prevail over the governor.

Attack On Badaru Targets Tinubu Group Alleges

Mike Odeh James

Arewa Youths Assembly for Good Leadership (AYAGL) in response to recent attempts to tarnish the image of the Honorable Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, said such sponsored attacks is targeted at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and will not be tolerated.

A statement issued by the Speaker of the Assembly Comrade Abdul Danbature averred that such unfounded attacks is aimed to undermine the integrity of a man who has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication to his duties and the well-being of the Nigerian people should be condemned by all.

His leadership at the Ministry of Defence has been characterized by professionalism, transparency, and a clear vision for enhancing national security.

Accordingly, the group said, Alhaji Badaru has proven himself as a leader who is committed to tackling the security challenges that face our nation. Since his appointment, he has worked tirelessly to strengthen the Nigerian military and to ensure that our armed forces are better equipped and prepared to deal with the evolving threats to our country. His efforts have been pivotal in ensuring that the Nigerian military remains one of the most formidable forces in the region.

One of the major achievements under Minister Badaru’s leadership has been the successful implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at modernizing our military infrastructure.

“Through his foresight, the Ministry has seen improved coordination between the military and other security agencies, leading to better operational efficiency and more effective security management. This level of coordination is critical as it enhances the ability of our forces to respond to both internal and external threats with greater precision and speed.

“I’mIn addition to improving defense capabilities, Minister Badaru has also made the welfare of our soldiers a priority. Understanding that a well-equipped and motivated military is essential for national security, he has advocated for better living conditions for troops and their families.

“His leadership has helped secure improved funding for the military, ensuring that they have access to necessary resources, such as equipment, medical support, and training, to effectively carry out their duties.

Minister Badaru’s leadership also extends beyond the military. He has played a crucial role in strengthening our diplomatic ties with neighboring countries and international partners, recognizing that security issues are often transnational. His strategic approach to regional cooperation has bolstered Nigeria’s role as a leader in African peacekeeping efforts and regional stability.

The Minister’s ability to forge these important alliances demonstrates his foresight and commitment to the broader security interests of the continent.

“It is therefore troubling to witness the recent smear campaigns aimed at tarnishing his image. These efforts are not only unfounded but also detract from the significant strides that have been made under his leadership. Instead of focusing on the positive outcomes and the progress achieved, these groups choose to engage in disinformation and personal attacks. Their actions serve no purpose other than to destabilize the important work that Minister Badaru is undertaking on behalf of the Nigerian people.

“We firmly believe that these attacks are motivated by ulterior political or personal agendas. Such campaigns only seek to divide and distract the nation from the critical work of strengthening our security infrastructure. It is important to recognize that those behind these baseless allegations do not have the best interests of Nigeria at heart, as they undermine the ongoing efforts to ensure a safer and more secure environment for all Nigerians.

“We, therefore, call on all well-meaning Nigerians to rise above the rhetoric and remain steadfast in support of Minister Abubakar Badaru. His leadership is focused on ensuring peace and stability across the country, and his unwavering dedication to his role should be celebrated, not undermined. The progress that has been made should be seen as a testament to his hard work and commitment to a brighter future for our nation”.

To those who continue to perpetuate these negative campaigns, Danbature urged them to reconsider their actions, adding that it is time to put aside political or personal differences and focus on what truly matters: the safety, security, and prosperity of Nigeria and its citizens, stressing that the work of the Ministry of Defence, under the guidance of Minister Badaru, is integral to the success of our nation, and we must all support him in this important mission.

“In conclusion, we hereby pass a vote of absolute confidence in Minister Abubakar Badaru. His leadership, integrity, and dedication to the service of our nation are qualities we deeply admire. We are confident that under his continued leadership, Nigeria will continue to make strides toward achieving greater security and stability. We stand firm in our support and reject the baseless attempts to discredit his hard work.

Nigeria’s future is brighter with leaders like Minister Badaru at the helm of our defense efforts.

Middle Belt Forum Urges Tinubu to Match Plateau Response with Action in Benue

By Ladi Akatu

ABUJA – The Middle Belt Forum (MBF) has welcomed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent condemnation of the Bokkos massacre in Plateau State but is urging the presidency to extend the same level of concern and response to the ongoing attacks in Benue State.

In a press statement signed by its spokesman, Luka Binniyat, and released on April 6, 2025, the MBF described the President’s reaction to the violence in Bokkos—including his directive to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide immediate relief—as a rare but commendable show of leadership.

“We are grateful for the President’s intervention and his clear directive to security agencies to bring the attackers to justice,” the statement read. “This kind of decisive leadership offers hope to affected communities and affirms their place in a nation that cares.”

The Forum noted that survivors of the attacks in Tadai, Manguna, Hurti, Ruwi, and Dafo—all within Bokkos Local Government Area—identified the assailants as Fulani militia, highlighting the growing pattern of violence across the Middle Belt.

Despite this progress, the MBF expressed deep concern over the continued killings in Tiv and Idoma communities of Benue State, which it said are met with troubling silence from the presidency. “Daily attacks, displacements, and kidnappings continue without a word from the nation’s highest office,” the group stated.

The Forum called on President Tinubu to issue a strong public condemnation of the Benue atrocities and back it with robust security measures. “The same urgency shown in Plateau must be applied in Benue if we are to turn the tide,” the MBF said.

It also urged Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State to raise his voice and actively mobilize local communities to defend themselves while appealing for greater federal support.

The MBF reaffirmed its solidarity with all Middle Belt communities under attack and commended the military and security agencies for the improvements seen in parts of the region. It called on citizens to cooperate with these forces in the collective fight for safety and peace.

As the umbrella body for indigenous ethnic groups across the Middle Belt—including parts of Borno, Kebbi, Kaduna, Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, Adamawa, and the Federal Capital Territory—the MBF vowed to continue advocating for justice and protection for its people.
