The zamfara state ministry of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development has distributed over one hundred and seventy trailers of food item’s to over thirty eight thousands beneficiaries in 2021 across the fourteen local government areas in the state.
This was disclosed by the commissioner of the ministry, Hon.Fa’ika Ahmad, in an interview with newsmen recently in Kaduna.
According to the commissioner”, the organisation was ealier emerged as the directorate,as a result of our efforts and the impacts the present government headed by governor Mohd Bello Mawallen Maradun(Barden Kasar Hausa)upgraded organization to ministry in 2019″.
She however noted that, “according to the multi directional poverty international had ranked the Zamfara state as the poorest state for the entired nation With 91.8 in 2019.afterwards in 2020 the living standard organization international serving in the state unveiled that the state poverty level dropped down to 71.14, due to the efforts of our organization, although it’s not up to the level to international organchildren’s” when started our program we only having two or three international organization collaborated in the state; Doctors without boarders and Safe the children’s.And now achieved by collaboration with various international organization; the UN Basket,IRCs,Solidarity international and world food programs among others”.
She also explained that, the organisation contributed a lot in carrying our programs;in livelihood programs training of our staffs to ensure we builds capacity for proper delivery.
“We also recorded a lot to emergency support through the desk’s officers in the fourteen local government areas in the state for the first hand information in the right times, it also enables in providing relief materials”
The reliefs materials include; food item’s; Rice,Sugar,Milk and Semovita.the non food items; Mattresses and Landket.also engaged in an empowerment programs, to provide an sustainable item’s for the IDPs as encouragement to stand on their feet by providing them with industrial sewing machines, generator’s for small scale businesses and Tricycle (keke Napeng).also provide hospitals bills for those that’s injured”.
The commissioner however commended the Safe the children organization helping the ministry in many ways including the ongoing program on validation strategies of the ministry.
